The Capri Theatre, the only independent theater in Montgomery, Alabama, is being forced to install a digital projector in addition to their 35mm projector. Studios are starting to rely solely on digital distribution and in order for the Capri Theatre to continue to show new films, they have to get a new projector.
They currently have a Kickstarter campaign going so they can raise the funds to get the digital projector. If they fail to reach their $80,000 goal by April 30th, they’ll have to focus all their funds on getting the projector themselves and ultimately go out of business. As I write this, their funds are close to $39,000.
If their goal is met, they can focus on adding a second screen that will be used to screen cult and genre films, which would be amazing.
Please donate to the Capri Theatre and keep this badass movie house alive.
